After the Brave Thing

Courage may leave the body trembling; the choice is still yours.

R Richard Nkwenti 1 min read

Courage has an aftermath. The body trembles after the boundary is spoken. The mind revisits the risk after the decision is made. Even relief can feel unfamiliar when fear has occupied the house for a long time.

Be tender with this hour. You are not required to feel powerful simply because you acted with strength. Let the pulse settle. Let the silence become ordinary again.

What mattered was not the absence of shaking. What mattered was that fear did not become the author of your choice.

Close the day without demanding another victory. One brave act is enough work for a human heart to carry into sleep.
