Midnight Note

The Room Beneath the Noise

Beneath the day's noise is an inner room that asks only to be inhabited.

R Richard Nkwenti 1 min read

Noise follows us after sound has ended. Conversations repeat. Headlines continue their argument. An unfinished task scratches at the door of attention.

Beneath all this, another room remains. You enter it by releasing the need to respond to every thought. Let each one pass without employment. Not every idea deserves a meeting tonight.

Feel the bed carry weight you have been carrying alone. Hear the breath without improving it. Silence does not ask you to become empty. It asks you to stop crowding yourself.

Stay until the inner room feels inhabited again. Then let sleep close the distance.
