What the Number Could Not Hold

The day's count can remain useful while leaving room for an honest account.

R Richard Nkwenti 1 min read

A list or a number may tell you how the day went according to the plan. It may say very little about the patience required to finish a difficult conversation, or the time given to an unexpected need.

Add a brief note beside the count. Describe a circumstance it could not contain. You can acknowledge a shortfall without erasing the conditions in which you worked.

Let the record have a human margin. Tomorrow's planning will be more useful if today's account has room for the whole day.
