A Gate Is Not a Wall
A boundary gives care a form strong enough to endure.
A boundary is a gate with a keeper. It does not reject the whole world. It decides what may enter, in what form, and at what cost.
Without a keeper, every demand becomes an emergency. Every invitation becomes an obligation. The hours meant for your work, health, and tenderness are taken by whoever asks first or loudest.
Stand at the gate this morning. Welcome what nourishes the life you are responsible for. Delay what requires thought. Refuse what arrives carrying contempt.
You can remain generous without becoming endlessly available. Care needs form if it is going to endure. A gate makes love more deliberate, not less abundant.
