Midnight Note

The Work Can Sleep Too

Distance belongs to the creative process; the work can sleep beside its maker.

R Richard Nkwenti 1 min read

Step away from the work before frustration teaches you to despise it. The page has given what it could today. So have you.

Distance is part of composition. In rest, proportion returns. The sentence that seemed impossible may reveal a simpler shape. The image may ask to be quieter. A problem can loosen when it is no longer held under the bright lamp of effort.

Leave a small note for your returning self, then close the book. Trust that devotion includes departure.

The work will not confuse your rest with abandonment. It will meet you again, carrying the changes that only darkness knows how to make.
