The self-improvement industry often assumes a simple premise: that you are a project to be optimised. But endless optimisation can become its own form of avoidance, a way of never arriving.

There is a difference between growing toward something you value and perpetually indicting the person you currently are. The first is patient. The second never rests.

The goal is not a finished self. It is a self that is honest, awake, and kind.
