Forgiveness is widely misunderstood as a gift to the person who wronged you. More often it is a decision about what you will keep carrying.

This does not mean pretending the harm did not happen, or restoring access that was abused. It means letting the debt stop setting your posture — deciding that the past no longer gets a vote on your mornings.

You can set something down without declaring it unimportant. Release and denial are not the same act.
