Stillness is often mistaken for doing nothing. It is closer to listening without deciding in advance what you want to hear. In a life of constant motion, silence can feel like a risk, as though the world will move on without you. It will not.
Most of what we call urgency is habit dressed as necessity. Let the noise settle like sediment, and what remains is usually the thing that was always true and that you were too busy to hear.
