Rest is often treated as the opposite of productivity, a concession made when the body finally refuses. The framing is backwards. Rest is part of the mechanism by which work becomes good.

The mind consolidates in the quiet. Problems that resist an afternoon of force often dissolve in an hour of genuine rest. The best ideas tend to arrive not while grinding, but just after.

Rest is not the absence of effort. It is the half of effort that cannot be seen.
